Fire, Ice, and Fear

I have something new coming out in about a week on amazon. It's Sun and Moon Part Two: Fire, Ice, and Fear. This book is keeping me surprised as it goes along.

Emily, Ashe, Blaze and Raelyn are alone in the city hunting down a creator that wants to escape his boundaries. The roles are flipped, with Ashe and Emily having magic, while Blaze and Raelyn have none. The creator uses their fears against them to try and break them.

Joining

I have a new novelette out. The title is Joining. It will only be available on amazon as an eBook. It's part of a four part series. The first part is more of an introductory story. Each of the other parts are closer to novella length.

Check it out here: Joining on Amazon

Joining is the first story in the series which tells the tale of a sixteen year old girl named Emily who was born without magic in a land where you're ranked by how powerful your talents are.
She wakes one day after an intense dream, and crazy things begin to happen to her. Will she be able to stay grounded when nothing seems to be going as she planned? This is the day that changed her life for ever.
Sun And Moon is a series of shorts. Each is a tale that describes a chain of events in the magical city of Trillody. It is fantasy with a touch of romance combined to create an adventure that will leave you craving more.

The Lost Dreamer

My first YA fantasy novel (The Lost Dreamer) should be available on Amazon (for Kindle, paperback within a few weeks) by Monday, February 25th. I'm just finishing up the formatting now. Then I can upload it, and make sure it looks good. I'm pretty excited that it is finally done. I'm very proud of myself. It's the first full length manuscript I've been able to complete. I don't count the two children's books I have written. Those were a whole different ball game.

I hope you all enjoy reading it as much as I have enjoyed creating it.

I'm also writing a YA fantasy novella series called Sun and Moon. The first part of that, titled Joining, should be ready to go in about two weeks.

Critique It!

I'm looking for critiques on the cover Idea's for my two upcoming books. They are both Young Adult Fantasy / Romance. Would you buy them?

Back Cover Text:
Long ago the witches and the Dreamers got together, and made an eternal agreement to limit the power the Dreamers  had over the world. Thus they created the cycle of life in exchange for being invisible to their prophetic dreams.
Now the witches of present day are angry, and want to change the spell their ancestors created, but it will take a lot of careful planning to change what the coven created hundreds of years ago.
The witches kidnapped the younger Dreamer when he was a baby, effectively cloaking him from their dreams.  With many years to work their witchcraft on his unknowing mind, they continue to build the resources necessary to change the cycle forever.
Will he join with the other Dreamers to save the land from the witches, or was he corrupted by the long laid plans of the coven?

Back Cover Text:
Emily is a young girl born without a magic talent in a world where talent decides your rank in society.  A boy named Ashe shows up, and changes start happening all around her, causing chaos throughout the city.  Emily must fight to keep herself grounded, and figure out what to do when the magic is suddenly gone.

UPDATE:  2/22/13 I definitely appreciate all of the advice I received from this post, not only in the comments here, but on the posts on my google+ profile. I took all of those suggestions into consideration and created two covers that I am absolutely in love with, and many others have given praise about them too. I will post them in a blog when the titles are ready to be published.

Idea Overflow

It's funny to me how I started thinking, "What if I run out of good ideas to write about?" Then I dug deep into my current project. In the first month of working on it I came up with an idea for a complete different series. In the second month of working on it I came up with my children's series idea. In the third month (this month), I got the idea for a stand alone book, which I am overly anxious to write, yesterday I heard a phrase that sparked an idea for me, and today I heard another phrase that sparked an idea for me. So, in three months, after wondering if I would be stuck with just my original idea to work with over the next few years, I have the ideas for about a dozen different books.
I think I am set now for a few years now, but if they keep coming to me this quickly, I'm not sure what I am going to do.
I looked into hiring a copy editor recently, because my first book is nearly ready for that phase in its development. I'm so thrilled to be continuing progress on my future as an author.

Beta Readers

My manuscript for The Lost Dreamer is out with beta readers now. It's been in their hopefully capable hands for nearly a week now with me waiting anxiously for responses.
I finally received some response back from one of my beta readers yesterday. I got some great feed back, but I found that they were hesitant to tell me my flaws, and even had family advise them to tell me how wonderful it is. I know my writing is flawed, that's why I hired you to help me find them. Plain and simple. Be brutal, but have tact. Tell me both positive and negative. Tell me if it is utter crap.
I've got to admit though... some of my pointed out flaws hurt. But what happens when you don't tell me your honest opinion? I don't realize that there is something that needs fixed because I am too close to the story. Then I release a book without it being edited. Then I get reviews about my flaws. Then people don't want to buy my book. My future as an author is stinted, at least in some way, because you didn't take the role that I asked you to perform seriously.
I think I would rather take a slap to my ego now, than pay for my mistakes later.

Does it spread me too thin?

There are several different areas I am interested in writing in. I have a lot of time I devote to writing, and have developed many ideas for what I want to write.
*My main desire and passion has always been for adult fantasy. My first full novel (The Lost Dreamer) in a series titled Witch's Brew is nearly complete. It's being edited right now.
*My early reader series titled Loren and Lulu's Magical Kingdom is plotted out to four books so far. Two of them are complete and up on amazon now. This series was written to enhance my daughter Loren's excitement for reading. I don't really care if these books "sell" or not. They are really just to get my seven year old daughter revved up about reading.
*My oldest daughter is ten, and she is not a great reader. She is behind the other kids her age. I have another idea for a series for her age that would get her excited and practicing reading. This series would be written for ages 8-12, middle grade fantasy novels. There would only be a few of these written (more if they become popular, but again I don't expect that). They are being written for a specific purpose.
*And last is my idea for a young adult series. The adult category, and this young adult series would be my long term categories. Both are fantasy based (sword and sorcery). I don't know how long this series is yet, it is only in the idea phase. I have a big list of things ahead of it in line, so I haven't allowed my brain to dig into it yet.

So, this makes me wonder. Am I spreading myself too thin (genre wise), even though the two middle categories are limited to only a hand full of books each? My early readers are authored under E. Paradise. I'm thinking of doing the middle grade series under that as well, and the young adult and adult under my full name (Elizabeth Paradise).
Do you have any thoughts to share with me on this? I would love to hear them.
